can anyone tell me how to help my new puppy no whine and yelp when he is not being held?

I agree. The best thing to do for a puppy is to leave it alone because if you go to it when it whines it will learn that it can get attention if it whines.

yes I too just got a 7wk old puppy , first 2 days or nights are the worst .. but mine is fine now and is a fast learner..its only been about 5 days now
research seperation anxiety .. same thing..
crate training helps alot!
do not run to the puppy till its done whineing..
even when comeing back into the home, wait a few minutes before you go to the puppy.

I agree. It was hard for me at first but the vet was very blunt about telling me to cover my ears and ignore her. I found it to work, if I ignore her crying she will stop and keep herself busy playing or will just lay down.
