We have five cats all with food issues i.e. allergies to glutin. I have the following questions:

For years we have purchased cat foods with no wheat, rice, barley, or oatmeal, corn or any similar products. Of course these foods are very expensive and now that we have been reduced to a one income family it is hard to maintain the dietary needs due to cost. If cats are allegeric to glutin, which is I assume wheat glutin, would the same allergies carry over to rice, barley and other type of foods?

To be on the safe side, I would recommend avoiding anything that contains gluten which includes the majority of grain based products.
