Hi there, I'm a new pet owner due to some not so good circumstances. About 8 months ago, I adopted my dog "Soso" from my neighbor due to my neighbor not paying much attention to the puppy. I had to leave on a trip for nine months so i had to give him to my cousin. I thought he would take good care of him. Now I'm back and see that the dog is not trained, not groomed, only has the first shots that I gave him when I first got him. And has not had much human or animal contact. So I have taken my 1 year old dog back. And I am going to take care of him. The only issue is I don't know what the first step would be. Can anyone help?

Get a crate to keep him in when you are not home until he is trained to live in your house. Do not hug, kiss or allow the dog to sleep with you. This will just confuse him. Be kind and play with him at timed intervals. The important thing is to start relating to the dog in language he understands and can follow. Your cousin should be shot.

I'm actually going through a similiar situation with the husky I adopted last week. First thing that I did was take her to get groomed and to the vet. I'm hoping to start training classes next week since China is not trained. Good luck with Soso. Let me know how her trianing goes.
