My new puppy whines and yelps anytime someone is not holding him. He walks around behind me whining constantly. Does anyone know how I can get him to stop wanting to be held all the time? He will only play with his toys if I am sitting right beside him. Is there anything I can put in the bed with him to help with this?

Are you crate training? I find putting my puppy in her crate for a while helps and has taught her also to hold her pee a lot better too.

You could try putting an old shirt, or something that smell like you in the bed, or crate, with the puppy. It will give the puppy comfort when he is alone. Make sure you do not want the item anymore...
Try to sit down for short periods of time every so often, to pet the puppy and play with him. Then tell him you have something to do. The puppy is feeling lonely and needs assurance yet.
