I have two fire-bellied toads and I'm supposed to feed them crickets that have been coated in minerals. I've had no idea how to do that, but I just found this neat tool that makes a great gift for reptile/amphibian pet parents. Plus, you don't have to touch the crickets!

Rep-Cal Cricket Shaker

Coating crickets in calcium is definitely a good way to keep your toads healthy. I would only "dust" the crickets once every couple of feedings, rather than each feeding, and be sure to note that the calcium dust does kill crickets faster, so only dust the number you know the toads will eat in one feeding.

To dust them, simply use a calcium powder supplement (either Rep-Cal or Fluker's cricket dust) and sprinkle it over the crickets. They don't need to be solid white, but a light dusting will be fine. The Rep-Cal shaker works very well to get them coated, or else a plastic baggie (like the one they come in at Petsmart) would work well, too.
