how to make sure a snake does not bite me
If its your pet, you'll want to take into consideration the feeding schedule, and just a good dose of common sense will help with bites. Not 100% with anything OTHER than ball python, but I know that as long as I don't try to hold him right after I hold a small rodent/item he regards as food, my chances of being bitten are VERY slim. (That said, mine is also muuuch more docile than some.)
Other things to consider with snakes is that when they go to shed, they do have a much harder time seeing and usually want to be left alone during this time (as well as a few days after shedding)... so, if you give them that space, you'll be much less likely to be bit.
