Healthy Veggie Bones
Ingredients:
3 cups minced parsley
1/4 cup carrots, chopped very fine
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese
2 tbs. olive oil
2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 tbs. bran
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 to 1 cup water
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a large baking sheet. Stir together parsley, carrots, cheese and oil. Combine all the dry ingredients, then add to veggies. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, mixing well (the dough should be moist, but not wet). Knead for one minute and roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness. Using a dog bone shaped cookie cutter or a drinking glass, cut out shapes and transfer them to the baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until the dough has browned and hardened slightly.
Serving size: one bone per 50-pound dog or for smaller dogs, cut the bone in half.
Bone appetite!
